Nick Knowles casts more doubt on Strictly future as he still hasn’t trained for show

MYSTERY surrounds the future of Nick Knowles on Strictly Come Dancing, as he has shown little evidence of being back in the training room.

The DIY SOS star was forced to pull out of last week’s show after falling out of a jump during the dress rehearsal which left him on crutches.

The incident marked the second injury to overshadow his strictly journey after he’d hurt his shoulder changing a car tyre.

But having told his social media followers that doctors have cleared him to be back in the training room, there have since been no further updates in two days.

He said on Wednesday: “I am behind the scenes at It Takes Two and the good news is that the physios have cleared me to train tomorrow. That’s not an all clear for Saturday yet, so I have to see how I can get on tomorrow and then a decision will be made on Friday.”

And it seems Nick’s fans are keen to see him back in the ballroom.

One said: “We’re rooting for you Nick.”

Another commented: “I hope to see you back on the dancefloor on Saturday Nick.”

And another person added: “You’ve still got this Nick, you can do this.”

But with the live show looming tomorrow night and still no updates on his physical state, the situation is looking tight for the TV star.

Appearing on Strictly spin off show, IT Takes Two on Wednesday night, Nick spoke to Janette Manrara, alongside his professional partner Luba Mushtak, as he said that show bosses were keeping a watchful eye on his injuries, as he hopes to be able to stay in the competition.

He said earlier this week that he feels stronger each day as the pain starts to dissipate.

“Each day gets a little bit better. On Friday, it looked pretty bad to be honest.

“Saturday was not so good but I got a scan and so we decided to wait until Monday so we could have a look at that.

“Monday was a little bit stronger and today I got the see the physio’s and I’ve had help from all the rehab and physio’s and doctors and they have given me clearance to try and dance tomorrow to train.

“If I train tomorrow then it might not necessarily be the end of it.”

Nick and Luba further revealed that if they are able to take to the dancefloor this Saturday, they will be performing their planned routine for last week, a Charleston based on the iconic children’s character Paddington Bear.

Addressing how she would adapt the routine owing to Nick’s injuries, Luba revealed: “We will take it step-by-step and see what is comfortable and maybe what is feeling uncomfortable.

“We will create it together.”

It is not the first time that Nick has been blighted by injury whilst on the show with the TV star confessing today he had been left “sick and tired” by his unfortunate roadblocks.

The Sun were the first to reveal last week that Nick had been forced to pull out of the contest and be given a bye to the next round as a result of his knee injury.

He injured himself after falling when he did a jump during a dress rehearsal – leaving him on crutches.

It is the second injury to rock Nick on Strictly after he injured his shoulder and arm while changing a car tyre.

A source said last week: “Nick won’t be able to take part in Strictly after hurting his knee.

“He was in a dress rehearsal with his partner Luba Mushtuk when he did a jump and landed awkwardly.

“Nick has hurt his knee and is having to use crutches to get around now.

“It is such a devastating blow for him and he is being supported by the Strictly team.

“They are sending him for scans and are doing everything they can to make sure he is okay.”

Strictly Specials

  • Movies Week – Each year the cast of dancers on the show perform spellbinding routines to an iconic movie soundtrack or hit song associated with the big-screen blockbusters. Previous films to have been featured include The Sound of Music, Bridget Jones’ Diary and Clueless.
  • Musicals Week – In a similar vein to Movies, the cast perform routines inspired by hit stage musicals each year on the show.
  • Halloween Week – Things take a seriously spooky turn as the show transforms into a haven for Halloween towards the end of October. With some bone-chilling costumes and sometimes terrifying routines, it proves to be a fan favourite week year-on-year.
  • Blackpool Week – As the show hits Blackpool Tower, things get even more over-the-top. Huge props, backing dancers and extra special effects flood the ballroom for the extra special week.
