However, Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma’s tribute post sparked significant backlash and criticism from netizens. Many users took to social media to voice their discontent, leading to Vijay being severely trolled for his remarks.
The backlash started with Vijay’s post that he posted yesterday, mourning the death of Ratan Tata. He wrote on X, “A legend who will inspire every generation. Entrepreneurs of the next generation will miss interacting with the most humble businessman of India. Salutes, Sir. Ok Tata Bye Bye.”
Everything seemed fine until Vijay Shekhar Sharma’s post ended with the phrases “Ok Tata Bye Bye,” which many found offensive.
In response to the massive backlash, Vijay deleted the post, but screenshots quickly circulated online, going viral. The post was notably shared by user Shivam Sourav Jha, further adding fuel the criticism directed at Vijay.

The final rites of Ratan Naval Tata were conducted with full state honors at a crematorium in Mumbai this afternoon. Home Minister Amit Shah attended the ceremony on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently participating in the ASEAN-India and East Asia summits in Laos. Modi had paid tribute to Tata the previous evening, describing him as “an extraordinary human being.”
