PM Modi comes down on non performers, asks ministers to retire any staffer in 'public interest'

PM Narendra Modi has directed Union secretaries to rigorously assess the performance of government employees and utilize rules for compulsory retirement for non-performers and corrupt staffers. Fundamental Rule 56(j) of the CCS (Pension) Rules permits the government to retire employees in public interest with a three-month notice.
