'We have to see': Some top Dems hedge on whether they'll certify 2024 election for Trump
Some leading Democrats — including Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland — are hedging their bets on whether they'll certify the 2024 election, should former President Donald Trump emerge victorious.
Axios spoke to several top Democrats about the issue, with Raskin, Jan Schakowsky of Illinois and Jim McGovern of Massachusetts all saying they'd certify the election for Trump — so long as there were no shenanigans.
Raskin told Axios Democrats would vote to certify the election as long as Trump "won a free, fair and honest election" — but added he "definitely" doesn't assume that will happen.

Schakowsky suggested Trump might be plotting "shenanigans" and said that to certify any election, they'd have to "make sure that all the rules have been followed."
She later struck a stronger stance, and said she and her colleagues look forward to certifying the election in January.
McGovern, meanwhile, said Democrats would certify a Trump win "assuming everything goes the way we expect it to."
