Two dogs die in residential fire Thursday afternoon on Wyman Road
SCOTT, La. (KLFY) -- Two dogs in a kennel died Thursday afternoon in a fire that originated from a camper and spread to a nearby shop, according to the Scott Fire Department.
The fire was reported around 4:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Wyman Road.
Responding firefighters saw "heavy fire" coming from the camper and spreading to a nearby shot. The fire department said the fire was quickly brought under control but the camper and the shop were a complete loss.
"As a result of the amount of damage, the investigation will take an extended period of time. However, an electrical malfunction has not been ruled out," the fire department said in a news release.
Fire Chief Chad P. Sonnier said the two dogs were in a kennel next to the camper and were unable to escape and perished in the fire.
Duson and Carencro Fire Departments also responded to the scene to assist.
