Tentative agreement approved for new Hamburg police contract

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The Hamburg Town Board voted unanimously Monday to approve a tentative agreement for a five-year contract with the union that represents Town of Hamburg police officers.

A one-year contract extension was negotiated with the Southtowns Police Club in 2022 and a longer-term agreement has been in the works since.

The contract is retroactive to January 1, 2024. Wages increase 4% in 2024 and 3.5% each following year through 2028.

"We have a responsive and professional police department that is continuously looking to serve all of our residents and keep our community safe," said Town Supervisor Randy Hoak. "This proposed contract will ensure that Hamburg residents continue to enjoy the services and protection of a department that is the envy of many communities across Western New York.”
