Report: LeBron James, Bronny expected to play together on Opening Night
The Lakers look like they won’t delay history this year as LeBron and Bronny will reportedly play on Opening Night together against the Wolves.
LeBron James and Bronny had a special moment in the team’s second preseason game when they shared the court. However, as historic of a feat it was, it didn’t come in an official NBA game.
It bought the Lakers some time with the questions about when they would share a court together, but those questions of when it’ll happen in an actual game will remain. However, it sounds like the Lakers won’t let those questions linger too long.
On Thursday, Shams Charania of ESPN appeared on “Get Up” and talked about LeBron and Bronny and revealed that the expectation within the Lakers is for that moment to come sooner than later.

Charania’s wording isn’t definitive here, but the Lakers' plans probably aren’t, either. I would imagine that they really want to do this as early as possible this season to get it out of the way — to be frank — but they’re not going to fully commit to doing it in game one if the right opportunity isn’t there.
It makes sense for a number of reasons. The longer this goes on, the more head coach JJ Redick and LeBron will be asked about it. It’ll serve as a talking point and distraction of sorts, even if just a small one.
It also allows Bronny to move on and focus on developing, likely in the G League. There is a bit of a gap between the NBA season starting and the G League season starting where he has to be with the Lakers. Have him play the game then so that there’s no uncertainty about when it could come.
Late in the offseason, Redick spoke on the “Lowe Post” podcast and noted that the team has discussed the moment, but did not have a specific plan in place. He, too, also said it would happen sooner than later.
Or, in other words, exactly what Charania reported this morning.
Ultimately, this will happen soon. And as the preseason game gave us a glimpse into, it’ll be a really special moment when it happens, especially in front of the Crypto.com Arena crowd.
