AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department released crime statistics Thursday following Weekend One of the Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL) at Zilker Park.

APD said officers worked tirelessly to prevent criminal activity, stop crimes in progress and catch offenders.

According to the department, two people were arrested—one accused of evading on foot and the other was a request to apprehend.

In total for weekend one, officers responded to 225 calls for service and took 70 offense reports.

APD said there were 44 theft-from-person reports taken. Of those, 42 were for cell phones, according to the department.

According to APD, updated statistics will be given for the festival following weekend two.

APD provided the following safety tips and reminders to festival-goers:

  • Don’t put your cell phone in your back pocket or sticking out of a backpack where it can be easily grabbed.
  • If you do bring a fanny pack or backpack, make sure it is zipped or locked.
  • Pay attention to your surroundings, especially in crowds.
  • Need help? Look for one of our officers to assist.
  • Keep your property secure or leave it at home.
  • Use APD’s online reporting site or Austin 3-1-1 (non-emergency) to report a theft that is not actively occurring.
  • Plan your route to and from the festival.
