Thunderbirds touch down in Topeka for air show

0

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are in and above the Capital City this week as they prepare for a major air show this weekend.

People in south Topeka may have seen or heard the fighter jets as they soar overhead, practicing their maneuvers for the upcoming Thunder Over the Heartland show. The Thunderbirds are made up of pilots who perform impressive aerial stunts, which includes a wall of fire in the sky.

"Every weekend, we're in a different show site, different area talking to the public about what the Air Force has afforded us, the amazing opportunities," said U.S. Air Force Major Zachary Taylor. "It's honestly the biggest honor you could ever have while serving in the Air Force is to tell others about your fortune and how blessed you are to be a part of this team."

Many of the Thunderbirds touched down in Topeka on Oct. 9. They will be one of many performers for Thunder Over the Heartland which runs from Oct. 10-13. You can learn more about the air show by clicking here.
