Showing at WatchTime New York 2024: Piaget Polo Skeleton Ceramic

WatchTime New York 2024 is about a week and half away, running from October 18 to 20th at Manhattan’s Gotham Hall, with over thirty-five watchmakers poised to showcase some of the most important timepieces of the year for this incredible collectors’ event. Joining again this year is the refined luxury maison Piaget, with the brand to be presenting the new Polo Skeleton Ceramic. The new watch introduces ceramic for the first time into the brand’s repertoire, both for the Polo collection specifically and for its larger catalogue, making a splash by fusing it with Piaget’s renowned work in skeletonization.

The Piaget Polo Skeleton Ceramic features a sleek, jet-black ceramic case— being one of the most modern looking designs produced by the brand in recent memory. Measuring 42mm in diameter in the familiar Polo silhouette, the case is complemented by a black DLC-treated titanium container that anchors its construction, ensuring robustness while maintaining Piaget’s signature ultra-thin profile. With a thickness of just 7.5mm, the Polo Skeleton Ceramic showcases the maison’s engineering expertise, working to merge lightweight comfort with impressive durability.

The openworked dial of the new Polo is subtle in its use of color, but highly intricate in its skeletonization. A matte black color dominates the look, with smart touches of blue adding some vividness to the look, with the skeletonized and satin-finished bridges creating a striking contrast with the Super-Luminova coated hands and indices. The depth and texture of the dial are emphasized by Piaget’s mastery of openwork techniques, continuing the tradition of the Maison’s iconic skeletonized timepieces, which have been part of Piaget’s heritage since the late 1940s.

At the heart of the watch is the Manufacture Calibre 1200S1. This ultra-thin self-winding movement is a mechanical marvel, featuring a thickness of just 2.4mm. The movement offers a 44-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. For the first time in the collection, the oscillating weight features the Piaget logo coated in Super-Luminova, creating a new interesting contrast to the otherwise mostly noir look.

Available later this year, the Piaget Polo Skeleton Ceramic has its pricing marked at $42,900.
