Watch: Video of Ratan Tata’s millennial friend Shantanu Naidu crying inconsolably at industrialists’ funeral leaves everyone in tears

A video of Shantanu Naidu, the millennial friend of Ratan Tata, weeping inconsolably at the deceased industrialist’s funeral has gone viral on social media, leaving netizens in tears. In the video, Naidu, Tata’s assistant and the youngest general manager at Tata Trust, was seen crying his eyes out as Ratan Tata’s last rites were performed at the electric crematorium in Worli, Mumbai on Thursday evening.

 

Earlier in the day, Shantanu Naidu was seen riding on a motorcycle in front of the cavalcade which carried Ratan Tata’s mortal remains to the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) where it was taken for the people to pay their last respects to the beloved industrialist.

In a LinkedIn post,  Shantanu Naidu, a close aide and friend of Ratan Tata, paid tribute to his mentor saying “grief is the price to pay for love”.

“The hole that this friendship has now left with me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to fill. Grief is the price to pay for love. Goodbye, my dear lighthouse,” Naidu, 30, wrote, while sharing a throwback picture of him with the business icon.

Ratan Tata, the Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, who helped transform the conglomerate into a global powerhouse, passed away on late Wednesday night at the age of 86. Ratan Tata’s demise, which has sent the whole country into mourning, was confirmed by Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran in a statement, describing the beloved business tycoon as a “friend, mentor and guide”.

As per reports, Ratan Tata suffered from low blood pressure, however, in an October 7 social media post, the veteran industrialist dismissed reports of being hospitalised due to blood pressure issues, assuring his followers on X that he was undergoing regular tests for age and related medical conditions.
