1. LIVE 5 AM UPDATE: Hurricane Milton winds reaching east coast of Florida
Hurricane Milton’s winds began reaching the east coast of Florida early Thursday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center. In a 5 a.m. update, the NHC said Milton was 10 miles northeast of Cape Canaveral with winds of 85 mph, making it a Category 1 hurricane.
2. Albany PD: Man killed in dog attack
A man has died after police said he was attacked by several dogs Wednesday evening. The attack took place shortly before 6 p.m. on the 500-block of Central Avenue.
3. Decade of mystery: Guilderland family homicide still unsolved
Tuesday marked ten years since a family of four was killed inside their home on Western Avenue in Guilderland — one of the most puzzling homicides of the capital region.
4. Schenectady school board talks new school safety measures
The Schenectady City School District Board of Education held a meeting Wednesday night to discuss progress being made on weapon detection and mental health measures that were passed in late September.
5. Supermarket chain takes unique approach to workforce development
A major supermarket chain has expanded its Spanish language classes for its employees. The program is meant to assist supervisors with communicating with their Spanish speaking teammates.
