Kyle Filipowski Update!

Things are going well in SLC

After the rather strange circumstances that came up when Kyle Filipowski fell to the second round in June’s NBA Draft, a lot of people weren’t really sure what to think.

But he appears to be settling in nicely with the Utah Jazz and his coach, Will Hardy, is impressed. Check out this rave on the rookie:

“Kyle’s brain excites me. He’s really smart. He sees and understands quickly. His size makes him a dangerous passer. Moving through the first part of this year, one of the big focuses for Kyle will be the consistency of his shooting... He seems to make one or two plays every day at practice that are a little eye-opening but also don’t feel like a one-off. If he can continue to tighten up some of the shooting— make it a little more consistent... he’s going to be just fine.”

That seems about right.

There were two things that we really loved about his game at Duke: first, he has an unbelievably quick spin move that should translate very well to the NBA with its more open court and second, he became a very powerful passer. He can really zip them.

He really ironed some things out between his freshman and sophomore years and after his hips were straightened out, he’s only going to get better. We can’t wait to see where he goes from here.
