Suryakumar Yadav’s Team India achieves rare feat, no other team has done this in 92 years…

Team India sealed a T20I series win over Bangladesh with a massive 86-run win in the second T20I match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday. En route to the win in Delhi, skipper Suryakumar Yadav helped make history in international cricket.

Since India’s first international match in 1932 – 92 years ago – we saw 7 bowlers bowling in an innings in any match and all of them picked up one wicket each. With Bangladesh chasing a massive 222 runs to win, skipper Suryakumar Yadav gave the ball to Arshdeep Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakravarthy, Abhishek Sharma, Mayank Yadav and Riyan Parag.

All of these 7 bowlers picked up at least on wicket with all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and off-spinner Varun Chakravarthy claiming a couple of wickets as the visitors were restricted to 135 for 9 in 20 overs. Nitish, who scored 74 with the bat, also became the first Indian batter to score a fifty and claim two wickets in a T20I match.

“I wanted that situation (41 for 3) and the middle order to bat in it to see how they go. The message has been loud and clear – do what you do in the nets, and franchises. I wanted to see what different bowlers can do especially in games where we’re defending 170-175. So, used many bowlers without Hardik. It was Nitish’s day, so wanted to give him a chance,” Suryakumar Yadav said after the match.

With the series win against Bangladesh, India have now won their 16th T20I series at home on the trot. They have not lost a T20I series at home since 2019.

“It feels great representing India and showing promise. I am grateful and credit to captain and coach, they gave me the licence. I took time and when the no-ball came, I thought this was my time, everything went for me. I want to continue and keep showing promise and repeating good performances,” Nitish Reddy, who won the ‘Player of the match’ award, said during the presentation ceremony.
