The All-New 2025 INFINITI QX80: A New Dawn

0

The all-new 2025 INFINITI QX80 Is a rare thing. A brand-new flagship from INFINITI like this comes along only once a decade or so, and when they do, it’s an occasion. Why? Because this is a brand with a long history of expanding the limits of luxury. For proof, look up the groundbreaking 1989 Q45, the highly influential FX35, or the cult-classic G35.

Even passersby unaware of INFINITI’s track record will surely stop and take notice of the mighty new 2025 QX80; its imposing presence makes it impossible to ignore.

“The all-new 2025 INFINITI QX80 is the ultimate expression of bold design, advanced technologies, and detailed craftsmanship, and we believe it re-establishes the standard for full-size luxury SUVs,” says Craig Keeys, group vice president of INFINITI Americas.

From the outside, as the first model to debut INFINITI’s evolved design language — dubbed Artistry in Motion — it serves a hard-to-pull-off combination of bold yet elegant design, with an exclusive yet welcoming vibe. The brand’s redesigned double-arch grille includes vertical strakes and LED running lights meant to evoke the imposing beauty of a bamboo forest. Front and centre is INFINITI’s new illuminated three-dimensional emblem, which makes for an impressive first impression.

Stepping into the palatial interior, its first-class seating for all passengers is like stepping into a private jet. There are massaging seats for both first- and second-row occupants, and heated seats for all three rows. Up front, the glass cockpit features three seamlessly integrated screens on the dashboard, while a new full-colour head-up display puts all the info a driver needs directly in their line of sight.

In keeping with the private-jet theme, INFINITI’s available ProPILOT Assist 2.1 system acts almost like a co-pilot by your side, offering an extra set of (digital) eyes on the road and allowing attentive drivers to take their hands off the wheel in certain highway driving scenarios.

A powerful new turbocharged V6 engine effortlessly churns out 450 horsepower and a shove-you-back-into-your-seat 516 lb-ft of torque.

Inside and out, INFINITI’s designers were inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of Miyabi, which originated in Japan’s royal courts and the artisanal culture of Kyoto. It epitomizes grace and refinement. Here, it is typified by the use of soft, layered materials, the flowing integration of technology, and the best materials. For examples, look to the multi-layered dashboard tied together with pinstripes that run horizontally into an illuminated INFINITI emblem, or the available dot-quilting that adds texture and depth to the seats. Everywhere occupants look there’s leather, wood, suede, and laser-cut metal.

The idea of Miyabi goes beyond giving guests what they want and attempts to anticipate their needs. An optional Biometric Cooling system uses an infrared sensor to detect when a second-row passenger is hot, automatically adjusting the temperature and sending cool air flowing to the second row. Best of all, it happens without anyone ever having to push a button.

If this all sounds like a lot, well, it is. The all-new flagship QX80 is a new dawn for INFINITI. To understand it, you simply need to experience it.
