TOPEKA (KSNT) - Following a $500,000 gift to Washburn University, the Henderson Learning Resources Center will be known as Advisors Excel Hall.

On Wednesday the university announced that Security Benefit had made a $500,000 donation to renovate the largest academic building on the campus. After renovations are completed, the building will be known as Advisors Excel Hall.

"We’re excited to be part of the Advisors Excel Hall renovation that will enhance the learning environment for the future workforce," Security Benefit CEO Doug Wolff said. “ Our company has been a long-time supporter of Washburn University and benefitted greatly from its graduates. We’ve also had a long-time strategic and successful partnership with Advisors Excel to help people save for secure retirements. Our investment in this project complements our philanthropic commitment to education and our passion for workforce development.”

According to the press release, Henderson houses 25% of the classrooms on campus.

“Washburn deeply values our strong partnership with Security Benefit as it supports our vision for a premier campus learning environment,” Washburn University President Dr. JuliAnn Mazachek said. “Renovations to this facility will impact almost every student at Washburn and provide optimal learning spaces equipped with leading-edge technology. Support for this project is vital in preparing our students for success while fueling the region’s talent pipeline.”
