MOORE, Okla. (KFOR) - According to Moore Public Schools, a virtual Southmoore student has been arrested and charged as a co-conspirator for an alleged Election Day terrorist plot.

According to the United States Department of Justice, 27-year-old Nasim Ahmad Tawhedi, an Afghan national living in Oklahoma City, was arrested on Monday for allegedly plotting an Election Day terrorist attack on behalf of ISIS.

The DOJ says Tawhedi liquidated his family’s assets, resettled his family members and bought AK-47 assault rifles and ammunition in preparation for the planned attack.

A criminal complaint alleges that the FBI found messages between Tawhedi and an unnamed person with ties to ISIS. The FBI also reportedly found a video of Tawhedi reading a text to two children that “desribes the rewards a martyr receives in the afterlife,” as well as saved ISIS propaganda on his iCloud and Google account.

Tawhedi has been charged with conspiring and attempting to provide material support to ISIS, and receiving a firearm to be used to commit a felony or a federal crime of terrorism.

A virtual Southmoore student was also arrested and named a co-conspirator for the alleged attack.

"Multiple local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies are involved in the active investigation." said MPS. "We are grateful for our effective agency partnerships and for the swift and efficient actions that out law enforcement agencies take to keep our schools, community, and state safe."
