Tottenham one of six Premier League teams chasing SC Braga starlet
Tottenham Hotspur are among the six English teams keeping an eye on one of the Portuguese league’s brightest talents.
Tottenham are investing in youth
Tottenham have made a habit of investing in young players over the past two years, even before Ange Postecoglou arrived at the North London club.
The likes of Destiny Udogie, Pape Matar Sarr and Lucas Bergvall were all loaned back to their original clubs before joining the Spurs first-team to compete for minutes.
Meanwhile, Tottenham invested a whopping £30m in Archie Gray this summer and the 18-year-old is already showcasing his immense talent at Hotspur Way (BBC).
Who is SC Braga’s Roger Fernandes?
18-year-old Roger Fernandes is one of the brightest sparks in the Portuguese League at the moment, which is why he has caught the eye of so many top clubs (O Jogo via Sport Witness).
As well as Tottenham, the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brighton, Newcastle United, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, PSV and Ajax have registered interest in the teenager.
Although Fernandes was born in Guinea-Bissau, he has played his football in Portugal for the past five years and already has 16 appearances under his belt for SC Braga this season.
There are reportedly rumours that Portugal manager, Roberto Martinez, is keeping an eye on the young winger as he is eligible to be a Portuguese international.
Roger Fernandes’ stats this season
Fernandes has played 16 times for SC Braga so far this season, with eight of those appearances coming in the Europa League, where he has scored once and assisted another (TransferMarkt).
