England’s leading run-scorer Joe Root continues his rampage to achieve new heights in Test cricket, as on the third day of first Test against Pakistan in Multan, he broke the record of Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar’s 34 Test centuries.

Joe achieved this milestone during the second session of the day, where he had also broken Alastair Cook’s record of 12,472 runs in the first session of the day.

During this innings, Root also became the highest Test run-scorer for England. With his 12,473rd run Joe overtook Alastair Cook.

Gavaskar was the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in Tests and 34 Test centuries, and was also known for his technique against pace bowling especially in 1970s and 80s.
