The Turkish Ministry of Interior announced that over the past month, 4,040 “illegal migrants” have been arrested across the country. In addition, 200 people have been arrested on charges of human trafficking. Turkey has not disclosed the identities of these refugees.

Ali Yerlikaya, the Turkish Minister of Interior, stated on Tuesday, October 8, on the social media platform X that during simultaneous operations across the country, over a hundred vehicles transporting undocumented refugees were discovered and seized.

He emphasized that the arrested migrants have been handed over to the city immigration offices, and the process of their deportation has begun.

The identities of the detained refugees have not been clarified, but the majority of undocumented migrants in Turkey are from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria.

In recent months, Turkey has intensified its arrest and deportation of Afghan refugees. According to Minister Yerlikaya, Turkish security forces continue operations across the country to identify and deport undocumented migrants.

Amid the dire humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, the forced deportation of Afghan refugees by Turkey has sparked international concern. Many of these individuals face severe economic hardship, violence, and instability in their homeland, making their deportation a matter of human rights and refugee protection.

As the situation escalates, organizations and governments are calling for a more compassionate approach, urging Turkey to ensure the safety and dignity of Afghan refugees during this challenging time. The global community’s focus on the Afghan refugee crisis highlights the need for broader solutions and humanitarian assistance.
