Streamer IShowSpeed Attempting to Break World Record for Most Backflips in 24 Hours
YouTube streamer Darren “IShowSpeed” Watkins, Jr. is attempting to break the world record for most backflips in just under 24 hours, he announced during a stream on Oct. 7.
The feat is taking place today, Oct. 8, with IShowSpeed aiming to perform at least 42 backflips per hour for 24 consecutive hours. The 19-year-old will have to perform 1,002 backflips to break the record, which was last set by Nico Scheicer, an Austrian who notched 1,001 backflips in 2019. Scheicer, however, completed his record in just under nine hours while IShowSpeed is aiming for just shy of 24 hours.

"I'm about to do something that nobody has done before. We will be beating the world record for most backflips in 24 hours, live on stream,” IShowSpeed said during his Oct. 7 stream. “The current record is 1,001 and I will be beating that tomorrow,” he promised. “I have to do 1,002 backflips in just under 24 hours.”
IShowSpeed is known for his athletic stunts and assured fans that he wasn’t taking this one on without the proper training. “This feat is going to be very hard. But don't worry, I'm already prepared. I've been practicing for the past week. I have been doing sit ups, I've been doing pushups and we'll be beating it tomorrow," he promised.
IShowSpeed’s quest for the record garnered attention from none other than Guinness World Records, who replied to his announcement on X (formerly Twitter). "BREAKING THE RECORD FOR MOST BACKFLIPS IN 24 HOURS. TOMORROW," the original post read. "We had no idea this was happening,” Guinness World Records replied, “but you do you, bro."
“I need my award for tomorrow,” the streamer boldly responded.
By Wednesday afternoon, IShowSpeed was approaching 310 backflips. You can head over to his channel to check it out for yourself.
