New Halloween event coming to the Altamont Fairgrounds
ALTAMONT, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A new Halloween event is making its way to the Altamont Fairgrounds for 2024. Halloween Haunts is set for October 25 through 27 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Grove section of the fairgrounds.
Halloween Haunts is organized by Bob Nopper, who owns Helderberg Concrete and Village Pizza in Altamont. "We just love Halloween and we wanted something different, something for the community," he told NEWS10.
Halloween Haunts features activities for both kids and adults. Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., there will be kid-friendly activities including a hay maze, a less scary haunted house, a CarnEvil and haunted cemetery walk-through, carnival games and rides, face painting, clowns blowing up balloon animals, and showings of "Spookley the Square Pumpkin" and "The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown."
From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., there will be two scary haunted houses, a haunted hayride, Haunted Hatchets axe-throwing for adults, and classic horror film screenings including "Halloween," "Friday the 13th," and "It." Halloween Haunts will also have vendors including donuts and cider from Altamont Orchards.
You can buy tickets on the Halloween Haunts website or at the gate. The carnival games and axe-throwing will be an extra fee, said Nopper. Halloween Haunts will go on rain or shine.
If the event goes well this Halloween, Nopper hopes to bring Halloween Haunts back for future years. "It should be a really fun event for everybody," he said. "Should be a lot of fun."
