Wilton man pleads guilty to vehicular assault
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Saratoga County District Attorney's Office announced a Wilton man pleaded guilty to vehicular assault following a car accident in August. Matthew Murry, 40, faces up to seven years in prison, with a $5,000 fine.
On August 7, deputies responded to reports of a crash on Pettis Road. An investigation into the crash determined Murry swerved to avoid a deer, causing the pickup truck to crash into a pole and overturn.
Deputies said two children, ages 10 and seven, were in the truck bed and were ejected once the accident occurred. The two children were transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
Murry was taken into custody and was charged with multiple charges. They included:
- first-degree vehicular assault
- two counts of aggravated DWI
- operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.8% or greater
- two counts of endangering the welfare of a child
- multiple vehicle and traffic law violations
Murry also pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Sentencing is scheduled for December 18 at 2:30 p.m.
