Ange Postecoglou at risk of losing key Tottenham figure
Ange Postecoglou may need to find a new first-team coach in the near future, after Belgian outfit Anderlecht set their sights on one of his backroom staff to take over as manager.
Ryan Mason could be on the move?
During the summer, Postecoglou lost his right-hand man, Chris Davies, who took on the top job at Birmingham City. To compensate, the Spurs boss added Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo to his Spurs coaching staff, and the pair appear to have settled in well.
However, it looks like there may be more disruption behind the scenes as Ryan Mason is now being headhunted for the managerial role at RSC Anderlecht.
The Belgian giants relieved Brian Riemer of his duties as head coach on September 18, 2024, and have been searching for his replacement since. David Hubert has been operating as caretaker in the interim period.
Now, according to Sacha Tavolieri, Mason has been selected as the top choice for the job. The reporter tweeted: “Ryan Mason is the young coach chosen by RSC Anderlecht to be Brian Riemer’s successor. As told last Friday, the English coach has been warned [that the club] wanted David Hubert to stay in the first team group.”
Tavolieri previously revealed an unnamed English coach had been earmarked for the role, and it is now confirmed Mason is that candidate.
Will Ryan Mason leave Tottenham?
Having acted as Tottenham’s caretaker manager on two occasions now, it is very likely Ryan Mason is both ready and willing to take on a full-time managerial role.
It sounds like Anderlecht have very much made up their mind on Mason, too, so if he’s keen, we imagine this will all play out pretty quickly over the international break.
Ange Postecoglou’s plans will not change
In the event Mason does move on, I can’t see Postecoglou replacing him in a hurry. He will no doubt want someone to come in and fill that role at some point, but I would predict we won’t see that happen until the New Year.
We know Postecoglou doesn’t like to rush into things, and he needs to get the right person; someone who can offer a bit of long-term commitment to the cause.
