Durga Puja: Ahom legacy continues at Burhi Gosani Devalaya

King Rudra Singha began the tradition of Durga Puja in Gargaon, later moving it to Rongpur and Burhi Gosani Devalaya in Jorhat. This practice has continued for around 400 years. The idol was originally brought from the Jaintia hills of Meghalaya. Rituals and sacrifices are performed every year during Durga Puja.
