Christodoulides hopes for positive outcome in NY for Cyprus talks

President Nikos Christodoulides hopes that his informal dinner with UN chief Antonio Guterres and Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar in New York on October 15 will produce a positive result, which cannot be other than the resumption of talks for a Cyprus settlement from where they left off in Crans Montana in 2017.

Speaking on his arrival at an event at the CyBC, Christodoulides said he was confident and was “going to the dinner…for a positive outcome.”

The president said that on his way to New York he would be meeting British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London to discuss the Cyprus problem and the potential of a broader meeting.

“We’ll see how the dinner with the UN secretary-general goes first,” he added.
