Labour minister puts forward ‘fair and balanced’ proposal for hotels
Labour Minister Yiannis Panayiotou has put forward a mediation proposal for the sectoral collective agreement in the hotel industry and expects the employers and trade unions to return with their final response by October 21.
Panayiotou met with the social partners at the labour ministry on Tuesday to submit his proposal and pointed out that the collective agreement must be renewed, to the benefit of the island’s economy.
The minister described his proposal as “fair and balanced”.
“I expect the final replies of the social partners of the sector within the coming days, with the deadline being October 21, 2024, so that we can see if we are reaching an agreement or a deadlock,” he added.
Panayiotou said it was necessary for all to act in a responsible manner to maintain stability in the hotel sector through the renewal of the collective agreement till 2027.
