Cinnamon sticks recalled for forbidden preservatives
Cinnamon sticks have been recalled from the market due to the presence of preservative E220 – sulfur dioxide – which is forbidden by law for such products.
The health services have already notified the company supplying the products that the cinnamon sticks must be taken off the shelves.
The product is called dried cinnamon bark in 50g packets by Sklavenitis, set to expire on 28/05/2026 (LOT: 2405300840 1).
Sulfur dioxide and sulfur compounds in concentrations over 10mg/kg can cause health problems to those allergic to them.
Consumers who have already purchased the product are advised to return it to the shop they bought it from.
