Showing at WatchTime New York 2024: MB&F Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO

0

In just over a week, the famed creative watchmaker MB&F will once again be joining America’s most important collectors’ event of the year. WatchTime New York 2024 will be happening from October 18 to 20 at Manhattan’s Gotham Hall, and MB&F will show off one of its latest editions of the Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO in a new titanium-clad variation featuring an icy blue dial.

Presented not as a sports watch but as “a watch for life,” the LM Perpetual EVO features a highly resistant titanium case at 44mm in the familiar Legacy Machine silhouette. Using a no-bezel construction, the domed sapphire crystal is fused directly to the case, providing an unobstructed view of the intricate mechanical components beneath. The case is further enhanced by MB&F’s innovative FlexRing, a monobloc shock-absorbing system that offers protection along both vertical and lateral axes. This engineering is in-part what makes the model one of the most robust watches MB&F has ever produced, with water resistance up to 80 meters.

The dial showcases MB&F’s signature floating balance wheel, which hovers above the movement. The perpetual calendar system, designed by master watchmaker Stephen McDonnell and introduced in the first Legacy Machine Perpetual, is fully integrated and features a unique “mechanical processor” that ensures each month has the correct number of days without the need for date-skipping. The calendar indications— day, date, month, and retrograde leap year— are displayed on the dial side for maximum legibility, while the icy blue CVD dial plate adds a modern, sleek touch to the aesthetic.

The new watch is powered by MB&F’s in-house perpetual calendar movement, with the “engine” developed by Stephen McDonnell. The manual-winding movement offers a 72-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 18,000 vph. With 581 components and 41 jewels, the movement is a technical marvel. It also includes a safety system that disconnects the quick-set pushers during date changeover, preventing accidental damage. The sapphire caseback reveals the superlative finishing of the movement, including polished bevels, Geneva waves, and hand-engraved details.

The new MB&F Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO is available now on a non-limited basis, with pricing marked at 182,000 CHF, or about $213,000 USD at the time of writing.
