Allbirds Will Sell Its Shoes Via Uber Eats

0

Allbirds is taking direct-to-consumer to the next level.

The sustainable shoe company on Tuesday announced that it will soon offer on-demand delivery of its shoes via Uber Eats, helping consumers get their hands on products more quickly. With the move, Allbirds becomes the food delivery app’s first and only footwear partner — and the first brand to kick off Uber Eats’ Climate Collection, a curated selection of eco-friendly brands available for delivery in the Uber Eats app. Uber chief executive officer Dara Khosrowshahi announced the news at Uber’s annual Go-Get Zero climate event on Tuesday.

“Providing an engaging and effortless shopping experience is a top priority for us. We’re excited about the opportunity to not only serve our existing customers but also connect with new ones by offering added convenience through Uber Eats,” said Allbirds chief executive officer Joe Vernachio in a statement.

To fulfill the orders, Uber Eats will prioritize couriers riding a bike or electric vehicle in an effort to make the last-mile of its supply chain more sustainable. The Allbirds program will kick off with deliveries located near four key Allbirds stores (in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York) with the potential to expand to more locations.

“At Uber, we’re aiming to make sustainable choices easier in everyday life,” said Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, senior vice president of delivery at Uber, in a statement.

The partnership represents the latest distribution announcement from Allbirds, which last year rolled out a turnaround plan that, in part, centered on optimizing U.S. distribution and store profitability. In November, the brand launched on Amazon, building off existing wholesale partnerships with REI, Nordstrom, Public Lands, House of Sports and Scheels.

Allbirds also upped its marketing spend to drive more brand awareness ahead of new product launches in 2025. In August, the brand debuted a new marketing campaign, “Allbirds by Nature,” that seeks to celebrate the brand’s roots in nature and sustainability.
