Spurs will hate the Premier League record they just set after Brighton defeat
Tottenham have set a rather unfortunate Premier League record after throwing away the points against Brighton.
Did complacency creep in?
Most Spurs fans would have been forgiven for thinking the game was wrapped up at half-time, given that the away side raced to a 2-0 lead and looked in complete control.
Tottenham have shown a lot of improvements defensively this season, which is why there was no reason to think they were going to throw the game away.
However, that is exactly what happened, with some poor lapses of concentration at the back being punished by the Seagulls, who emerged with a memorable 3-2 win.
Spurs set a record
Over the years, Tottenham have made it a habit of throwing away results in the face of victory, and unfortunately for Spurs fans, they saw history repeat itself on Sunday.
According to Squawka, that was the tenth time that the North London side have lost a game after leading by two goals or more, which is a record for any Premier League team.
Brought crashing back to earth
If Tottenham players or supporters were getting carried away by the team’s impressive run of results of late, the loss against Brighton served as a grim reality check.
It showed that the Lilywhites still have a lot of issues to iron out, both in terms of their defending and their mentality, with Postecoglou still having plenty of work to do.
