Rivals is an adaption from Dame Jilly Cooper’s best-selling book.

It follows the lives of the British elite in the 80s working in television over the course of eight episodes.

Luke, 34, plays Basil ‘Bas’ Baddingham in the raunchy series, which sees Emily Atack strip off for a topless scene.

Despite multiple sex scenes shows in the highly-anticipated series, Luke admitted ‘discomfort’ at shooting them and said they don’t get any easier.

He said: “With the topic of the show being what it was, how close to the bone some of the dialogue is, and the nature of some of the sex scenes, it’s very easy for there to be awkwardness or discomfort.

“Sex scenes never get easier no matter how many times you do them but by being surrounded by people that had the same end goal and were fully supportive of each other, it was like one big family.”

Luke continued: “When you’ve got so much respect for the people you’re working with, there’s an awkwardness, especially when you’re so close to people off-screen and you hang out.

“There’s a preconception that it will be easier because you know each other so well but, for a lot of people, that has the opposite
effect.

“I mean, if you are going to do a sex scene like that with somebody, any member of the Rivals cast is the person to choose because everyone got on so well.”

Disney+ bosses previously confirmed all episodes of Rivals will drop in one go on October 18th.

A first look at the series opens in 1986 with nostalgic scenes showing champagne being popped on the iconic Concorde before each character is introduced on screen.

The two-minute clip gives fans a taste of the raunchy scenes set to air, from bathroom romps to Emily Atack’s character’s naked garden tennis match.

Rivals premieres 18th October exclusively on Disney+
