Fans blast PCB for flat pitch in Multan, England great labels it as ‘road’
The 3-match Test series between Pakistan and England got underway in Multan on Monday. After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat and it turned out to be a great decision as after losing the early wicket of Saim Ayub, batters Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood formed an incredible stand.
Masood would go on to score his first Test century in 1524 days and did so in only 102 balls. Shafique also assisted him well and scored a great half-century. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already started receiving flak from fans for the flat Multan pitch.
One on the fans even predicted that Indian cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant would score 500 runs in a single day on such a flat track.
Not just fans but even some England legends also expressed their anger on social media. Former England captain labelled the Multan pitch as a ‘road’ while former batter Kevin Pietersen called it as a ‘graveyard’ for bowlers.
