Drugs found hidden in cereal box

Customs officers at the Larnaca airport seized a package containing drugs on October 4, a statement released by the customs department said on Monday.

During the inspection of a package that had arrived from Thailand, officers discovered and confiscated 1kg and 60g of dried cannabis. The substance was hidden inside two cereal boxes within the package.

The seized drugs were handed over to drug squad Ykan for further investigation, with the aim of identifying the recipient.

Following the investigation, a 27-year-old Syrian national, who was the intended recipient of the package, was located and arrested on Monday.
