Bolsonaro's right-wing party makes significant gains in Brazil's municipal elections
Former president Jair Bolsonaro’s rightwing party led Brazil's municipal elections, narrowly edging out leftist candidate Guilherme Boulos in Sao Paulo. Outgoing mayor Ricardo Nunes secured 29.4 percent of votes, while Boulos gained 29 percent. Populist outsider Pablo Marcal, finishing third with 28.1 percent, was eliminated. A second round of voting is set for October 27, election officials confirmed.
