Cornwall, Ont – Martin Belanger – Sunday, October 6, 2024 – The first edition of our RaceFest ended today as the 358-Modifieds and Sportsman joined the group.

A lot of action in the 30-lap Lightning Sprint as David Daoust led the first 10 laps as lap traffic became a factor as Keven Boucher-Carrier took the lead with Sabrina Blanchet in third. On a lap 12 restart, Boucher-Carrier to the lead with Blanchet moving to second. Leaders got back into lap traffic with Blanchet challenging the leader while Xavier Lauzon moving to third. Caution came in with 3 laps to go. On the restart, Boucher kept his lead and went on to win the feature over Sabrina Blanchet and Stephane St-Laurent. Blanchet won the Ti-Coune Sugar Shack Weekend championship.

Pier-Olivier Trudel was the early leader in the 30-lap Mod-Lite feature, as Alex Forcier made his way to second and challenged the leader for several laps as slower cars were a factor in many occasions but Trudel survived to capture the feature.

Tyler French was the leader in the 20-lap Street Stock feature over Nick Merkley and Todd Raabe. On a lap 11 restart, Raabe surprised French for the lead. Raabe survived a few late restarts and took the feature win in front of Mike Schonauer and Stephane Philippe.

Yan Bussiere took the early lead in the 30-lap MidgetSTR over Keven Hebert and Jacob Nault in third. A few cautions slowed the first portion of the feature as Bussiere remained first. A lap 19 restart saw an accident 2 cars rolling over right under the flagstand as red was out, everyone was ok. On the restart, Bussiere stayed first as Carl Labonté moved to second and tried to pass Bussiere but he kept his line and won a second feature this season in Cornwall with the MidgetSTR, he was crowned the 2024 champion of that series.

Nick Merkley won the 10-lap Sportsman feature over Tristan Ladouceur and David Andre completed the top 3 securing a provisional for next weekend.

Randy Gaudet was the class of the field in the 70-80s Vintage and Shawn Hodge won the 50-60s.
