Two shot on I-70 in east Columbus, westbound lanes reopen
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Two people have been transported to a local hospital after a highway shooting in southeast Columbus on Sunday.
Authorities responded to the scene on Interstate 70 westbound near South Hamilton Road and Courtright Road at 12:17 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
A spokesperson for the police department said there was an exchange of gunfire along the highway. It is unclear what the victims' roles were in that exchange, and there is currently no word on suspect information.
A spokesperson said both victims are hospitalized in critical condition.
As of 3:30 p.m., all westbound lanes of I-70 were reopened; the roadway was closed between State Route 317 and South Hamilton Road as police investigated the shooting.
Police said one of the victims was taken to the hospital after being found on the 1500 block of Elaine Road, while the second was transported from the highway.
