PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Thanksgiving is still two months away, but The Old Farmer's Almanac is issuing its travel weather outlook.

Holiday travel plans may be well underway for some as the uncertainty of weather remains unclear. The Old Farmer's Almanac is starting early with its weather outlook based on the almanac's long range weather forecast.

For those staying close to home in the Pacific Northwest, rain and mild temperatures are expected around Thanksgiving. This prediction comes as much of the eastern half of country remains unclear. The chance for varying weather including sun, rain, or snow is all a possibility.

NOAA's Climate Predication Center's forecast is slightly in line with The Old Farmer's Almanac in that wet weather is likely for the Pacific Northwest. The Climate Prediction Center's outlook spans from October to December. So, that too means there will be daily variations.

The near average temperatures expected in the Pacific Northwest from the Climate Prediction Center's outlook means highs are expected to sit in the low to mid 50s by the end of November. The southern sections of the country are expected to trend warmer, which doesn't match that of The Old Farmer's Almanac around Oklahoma.

Major winter storms, freezing temperatures, or even a warming trend is extremely unpredictable this far out from Thanksgiving. So, staying up to date with the latest forecast from the KOIN 6 Weather Team is the best way to stay informed and prepared for the busy holiday travel season.
