Bruins Rumors: Jeremy Swayman’s Contract Includes Key Detail

The Bruins are all in on Jeremy Swayman.

Boston made this abundantly clear Sunday morning when it signed Swayman to an eight-year, $66 million contract, which made the 25-year-old one of the NHL's highest-paid goaltenders. But according to trusted league insider Elliotte Friedman, the boatload of cash wasn't the only significant commitment made in Swayman's new deal.

The pact, which reportedly includes over $20 million in bonuses, also features a no-trade clause, per Friedman.

Friedman's report did not clarify whether or not it's a full no-trade clause. Swayman's former Bruins teammate Linus Ullmark, for instance, had a partial no-trade clause that allowed him to rule out moves to certain teams. Ullmark reportedly put the kibosh on a midseason trade in the 2023-24 campaign before he was dealt to the Ottawa Senators over the offseason.

Regardless, the Bruins and Swayman clearly were both very keen on maintaining their working relationship for years to come. Boston now has great security with one of the league's best goaltenders in net for years to come, while Swayman gets to stick around with the franchise that drafted him in the fourth round in 2017.

Swayman's first game after signing on the dotted line is to be determined, as newcomer Joonas Korpisalo is expected to start for Boston Tuesday night in Florida.
