Driver injured in September crash dies from injuries, state police says
NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY) -- A 30-year-old driver injured in an early September vehicle crash died from their injuries on Wednesday, according to Louisiana State Police.
State police said Taylor Alexander, of New Iberia, was seriously injured in a vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 3195 on Sept. 4.
According to a news release, the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office attempted to stop a 2012 Honda Accord driven by Alexander on Highway 87.
"Alexander then fled from deputies at a high rate of speed. As the pursuit continued northbound onto LA Hwy 3195 from LA Hwy 87, Alexander failed to navigate a curve, crossed into the southbound lane, exited the roadway to the left, and overturned after entering a ditch," state police said.
Alexander, who was unrestrained, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
State police said a standard toxicology sample was collected from Alexander and it revealed that Alexander had a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
State police said they were notified Friday that Alexander had died from his injuries on Wednesday.
