Man City 3 Fulham 2: Mateo Kovacic scores TWICE as Pep Guardiola’s men claim nervy victory over Cottagers
MATEO KOVACIC scored twice as Manchester City claimed a nervy 3-2 win over Fulham at the Etihad.
Andreas Pereira gave the visitors a shock lead in the 26th minute, tucking home a close-range finish from a Raul Jimenez back-heel.
But their lead was swiftly eradicated as Kovacic’s deflected effort flew past Bernd Leno for Man City’s equaliser.
And after the break they needed less than two minutes to go in front as Kovacic was teed up for Bernardo Silva and curled a superb strike beyond Leno.
Adama Traore had a chance to level when he outpaced Kyle Walker and went through one-on-one, but Ederson denied him with his legs.
And Jeremy Doku made sure of the three points in emphatic fashion, cutting inside and rifling an unstoppable shot into the top corner.
Rodrigo Muniz pulled one back for Fulham late on to make it a tense finish, but Man City held on to secure the win.
