Shooting leaves 17-year-old dead in Hilltop neighborhood

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A teenager has died after a shooting in the Hilltop on Friday afternoon.

Authorities responded to the scene in the 300 block of Lechner Avenue at 3:39 p.m. on Friday on report of a shooting, according to the Columbus Division of Police. Officers found 17-year-old Carnal Mixon suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Mixon was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead at 4:04 p.m.

Columbus police did not share any information on a possible suspect. Photos taken at the scene showed officers stationed cars and set up crime scene tape to close Lechner Avenue.
