Scott On 'Tough' Montrose Clash

0

Grant Scott spoke to the media ahead of Hibs Women's SWPL meeting with Montrose on Sunday (6 October).

The Hibees return to Meadowbank after a few weeks on the road, and are coming into Sunday's clash off the back of a 7-0 Sky Sports Cup victory over Queen's Park.

The second round win at Ochilview secured Hibs' spot in the last eight but attention now turns back to league action as the Gable Endies

"It’s another tough one," Scott admitted in his pre-match media conference.

"A few changes in their team from last year, but a lot of it remains the same. They have been much more consistent with their formation and the way they have been playing in most games.

"There’s always something thrown at you by the opponent that you have not factored in, so we need to be on guard and on form."

After two trips west over the past fortnight, the Hibees return to EH7 this weekend.

Scott's side are yet to lose at Meadowbank this season, with the boss acknowledging the importance of home advantage in tricky encounters.

"It’s always nice. We are definitely looking forward to getting back to our own pitch.

"We play well there and we are comfortable there. The extra support helps. It’s on us to turn up."

Despite last Sunday's seven-goal League Cup triumph in Stenhousemuir, Scott is keen to unlock more from his side after some deflating defeats in recent weeks.

"I think if we are honest with ourselves, we are probably not," Scott answered to a questions regarding his team progressing towards their goals. "And that is not to be harsh.

"We are ambitious here. The playing squad is ambitious enough and I know myself and our staff are right behind this group.

"We feel that in both of our poor losses recently, we have not shown ourselves properly as a group. That's the biggest disappointment.

"We are a well-rounded group. We have all reflected on these moments. We just need to keep pushing. If this squad performs to its absolute best, we can be very competitive."

Finally, Scott gave an update on the recovery of midfielder Kirsten Reilly - who has missed the last three fixtures through injury.

"Kirsten is good and back in full training now. She’s available for some minutes on Sunday depending on where the game takes us."
