Circon wallcoverings by Momentum Textiles and Wallcovering
Dezeen Showroom: Momentum Textiles and Wallcovering has introduced a bio-based, carbon-neutral and fully recyclable collection of vinyl wall coverings called Circon, which it says is the first of this type in the industry.
Made in partnership with Versa Designed Surfaces, Circon is a collection of commercial-grade Type II vinyl wall coverings made with over 70 per cent bio-sourced ingredients replacing the usual fossil fuel content.
This decreases the greenhouse gas emissions of the product, and Momentum is prioritising highly renewable feedstocks with high carbon-capture rates such as wood and algae to bring the carbon footprint down as low as possible.
Circon is being made available in four new and exclusive designs, but existing designs from the Momentum Versa collection or Digital Creations collection can also be ordered in the new material.
The Digital Creations collection includes designs by Yinka Ilori, while the new options include the canvas-like Miro Texture and the embroidery-inspired Zari, as well as two designs with abstract shapes, Loma and Miro.
"Circon is a significant breakthrough for the industry, offering a more sustainable vinyl substrate at a price point competitive with conventional vinyl," said Momentum vice-president of sustainability Julia Gillespie.
