Bills Make Me Wanna Give: Casey Toohill embraces chance to improve lives in new city

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Bills play the Texans on Sunday in a game that will feature former player Stefon Diggs, who was very involved with Western New York charities during his time here.

But there are plenty of new players in Orchard Park who are forging their own community paths, like defensive end Casey Toohill.

“This is such a great community to be in,” said Toohill. “So tight knit, you know. Everyone’s Bills fans, which is nice.”

Which also made it an easy transition into community involvement, something that’s been important to Toohill with his previous teams.

“It just keeps things in perspective on what’s truly important,” he said. “Just trying to make the world a better place, to make the lives of others better, right? As cliché as that sounds, the most important thing you can do is try to help people and be a good role model.”

That led him to Dave and Buster’s this week for the Bills’ Crucial Catch Family Night. It was a chance for him to embrace his inner kid while hanging out with kids going through cancer treatment.

“Cancer touches everyone,” said Toohill. “Starting that work when I was in the DC area with my wife, it just felt extremely important, just meeting all the kid and their families. Adults, hearing their stories. So I really enjoyed being able to meet people, you know, going through that.”

Toohill signed with the Bills in March. With the season now underway his intention is to keep these kinds of special moments going strong.

“I just hope to continue that here and just, you know, be there for people and try to just bring a little bit of joy to these kids and their families,” he said. “That’s all I can try to do.”
