ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: What is Smart Replay System, know about technology that was used in IPL 2024
New Delhi: Smart replay system will be used in Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. About 28 cameras will be installed for this. This will allow any review to be scrutinized in a very detailed manner. This technology has already been used in the Indian Premier League and The Hundred. The women’s T20 World Cup is starting on Thursday. India’s first match in this is against New Zealand, which will be played in Dubai on Friday.
ICC has reacted to the smart replay system. ICC said, ‘Around 28 cameras will be installed in every match. All kinds of analysis can be done with this. A lot of improvements are being made in this. Along with this, the Decision Review System will also be available in all the matches. Hawk-Eye Smart Replay System will be used in this. This will provide footage to the TV umpires from many angles simultaneously. This will help in making the right decision.’
The umpire will get footage directly from the Smart Replay System:
Talking about the Smart Replay System, the TV umpire will get information directly from two Hawk-Eye operators. They will sit in the same room with the umpire. They will capture the views from eight i-speed cameras installed on the ground and share the footage with the umpire. Till now the TV broadcasting director used to work between the third umpire and Hawk-Eye operators. They used to deliver the footage.
Smart Replay System will prove to be helpful for TV umpires:
If we talk about the Smart Replay System, it can prove to be very helpful in case of stumping referrals. TV umpires can ask for split-screen visuals from Hawk-Eye operators. Now TV umpires will not ask for Ultra Edge. They will directly check the side-on replay for stumping. Hawk-Eye cameras record at a speed of about 300 frames per second. So now making decisions will become very easy.
