Ayia Napa, Larnaca airport and Limassol ready for mass evacuations

Ayia Napa is continuing to receive a steady inflow of evacuees arriving mainly in luxury vessels, it was reported on Friday.

Around five boats are arriving daily, ferrying between five to twenty people each, according to unofficial reports relayed by state broadcaster CyBC.

The arrivals concern mainly European nationals or Lebanese with dual citizenship. Most arrivals are making their way onwards via flights from Larnaca following brief hotel stays.

Hotels in Ayia Napa have been preparing for the eventuality of mass arrivals, however, at present, although bookings by Israelis and Lebanese nationals have increased, there is still considerable availability, it was reported.

Meanwhile, ten flights are expected to arrive in Larnaca from Israel and Lebabon within the day on Friday, amid heightened airport security.

Elsewhere, the Limassol port authorities are also in full readiness in the event that the Estia plan for mass evacuations kicks in.
