$150,000 in Kansas Lottery prizes set to expire unless winners step forward

0

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Lottery officials in Kansas say three prizes, each valued at $50,000, are set to expire soon as no winners have stepped forward to claim the money.

Lottery players in Kansas won many prizes last year, including three $50,000 prizes through the Powerball lottery. However, these three prizes remain unclaimed nearly a year after they were originally drawn.

Kansas Lottery policy gives players one calendar year to collect their winnings before the cash goes back to the lottery. The winners now only have a few days left to claim the money before it becomes inaccessible.

  • Winning numbers: 47-54-57-60-65, Powerball 19.
    • Oct. 7, 2023.
    • Sold in northeast Kansas.
    • Jackpot at $1.42 billion.
    • Draw results.
  • Winning numbers: 22-24-40-52-64, Powerball 10.
    • Oct. 11, 2023.
    • Sold in south central Kansas and northeast Kansas.
    • Jackpot at $1.76 billion.
    • Draw results.

The Powerball lottery shows these three tickets match at least four white balls along with the Powerball. Winners can choose to claim their money through a cash or annuity option which are subject to the federal tax of 24% and the state tax of 5%. Prizes can be claimed by mailing in or showing winning tickets at the Kansas Lottery office in Topeka.
