Dom Thomas makes short ‘Tickets for Schools’ trip to St Fillan’s Primary School

0

Queen’s Park captain Dom Thomas popped in to St Fillan’s Primary on nearby Crompton Avenue to welcome the school back to the club’s ‘Tickets for Schools’ initiative.

Dom handed over Match Tickets for this weekend’s game with Hamilton Academical to the pupils who will be coming to Hampden as well as Queen’s Park black and white scarves and t-shirts.

Just over a year ago pupils from St Fillan’s were guests of the club for a game against Dunfermline Athletic and they were visited by Jack Thomson who let them into a piece of family history as his dad, Michael, used to attend the school.

Skipper Dom chatted to the pupils about what being a captain means and what is required to be a professional footballer, and he said afterwards: “The club are really committed to ‘Tickets for Schools’ and it was a pleasure to be involved today. I am sure I will hear the pupils shouting for the team at Saturday’s game.”

To make the day an even better one club backers JKK Automotive Assessors have provided a donation that will allow the club to provide half-time snacks to the pupils.

Kieran Koszary, Head of Commercial at Queen’s Park added: “It was great to return to St Fillan’s and see the enthusiasm for coming to our games.

“If a school are interested in taking part in our ‘Tickets for Schools’ programme for any of future games, which can include FREE transport to and from the school to the stadium courtesy of McDades Coaches, they can email tickets@queensparkfc.co.uk or call 0141 632 1275.”

Mrs Bridie Gibb, Depute Principal Teacher, St. Fillan’s Primary School commented: “Tickets for Schools is not only an excellent opportunity for our young people to enjoy watching professional football in our local community, but it also creates memories and feeds ambition. What brings added excitement is a visit from a player before the game.

“Dom Thomas came under a great deal of scrutiny as he was bombarded with interrogating questions – and what a job he did answering every single one of them! You can be guaranteed that every St. Fillan’s pupil at the game on Saturday will be rooting for Queen’s Park – and especially Dom!

“We’re genuinely touched by the ongoing thoughtfulness from the team at Queen’s Park FC, especially Kieran and Mhairi, who not only delivered tickets but also t-shirts and iconic Queen’s Park scarves. And the kindness didn’t stop there. The good folk at JJK Automotive Assessors have also generously provided pupils with vouchers for match day snacks which will most definitely add to their match day experience.”
