Newmont’s Palmer takes reins as ICMM chair

The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) has announced Tom Palmer, president and CEO of Newmont, as its new chairperson. He succeeds Iván Arriagada, CEO of Antofagasta Minerals, and will lead the organisation for the next two years.

ICMM, which represents a third of the global mining and metals industry, is governed by a council of CEOs from its 24 member companies. The chairperson is appointed from within this group.
